One Last Trip Before Summer Ends

Posted on August 31, 2019

In our last newsletter, we had another great addition to our Hidden Gems of Calgary series and talked about some beautiful and Instagram worthy places to go for a quick day trip. This summer went by incredibly fast. For this blog post, we wanted to list some additional spots worth checking out if you want to get one last quick getaway in before August comes to a close, or that you might want to book up for the September long weekend!

Bow Valley Campground

Bow Valley Campground is about one hour away from Calgary and has tons of activities for the entire family. There is a lake which allows for swimming, canoeing, kayaking, boating, and even windsurfing. If spending time on the water isn’t your cup of tea, then there are also fantastic hikes, horseback riding, and rock climbing to explore as well! Situated near Canmore, you get a taste of the mountains without being too far away from home!

Dinosaur Provincial Park

If you want a trip other than Kananaskis, this next place is your perfect destination. Dinosaur Provincial Park is a slightly longer trek but still only just over a 2-hour drive outside of Calgary! Here, there are both guided and self-guided tours. Guided tours can be booked online and include things such as a Fossil Safari and a 1-day excavation! If exploring on your own is more your thing, than there are tons of trails to explore the Hoodoos, a playground for kids, or take a canoe trip down the Red Deer River!

Here are only two places that we think would be a great place to explore the outdoors and appreciate where we live! Where would you recommend visiting? Let us know on our Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram pages. We would love to check them out!
