A Letter to Our Supporters

Posted on March 16, 2020

Dear Green Calgary Members, Supporters, and Donors,

The COVID-19 situation is a very real crisis that is impacting all of us. Here at Green Calgary we want to assure you we are taking the situation seriously and are ensuring public health and our employees’ health is protected. We are adhering to the policies of all levels of government: the City of Calgary, the Government of Alberta, and the Government of Canada.

Our plan is to continue to provide environmental education to all Calgarians. We have instructed our staff to work remotely and we will provide assistance by phone and through webinars. Like all of you, we are monitoring the situation on a daily basis.

Education and learning is important, never ending, and can be done from anywhere. With a little creativity during this crisis, we plan to continue to deliver our programs to children and workplaces. We are up to the challenge of helping Calgarians reduce their waste as they work from home, through waste diversion education done via live chat, video conferencing, and webinars. We can help children stay busy while they’re out of classrooms by teaching them our Citizen Science, Water for Life, Waste in Our World, and Worms Love Leftovers programs. We will help Calgarians take the pressure off the supply chain by showing them online how to make their own environmentally-friendly household products, from shampoo to sunscreen. And, as the weather warms up, we will have useful education about collecting your own rainwater and composting.

In addition to all of the above, we will be using this time to update our programs and develop new ones so that we can improve the education we deliver when this health crisis is over.

Thank you so much for your continued support. We wish you and your families all the best during this trying time. May you all be healthy and safe.

Sincerely,

Nirmala Naidoo
