We're A Living Wage Leader

Posted on July 10, 2015

We're pleased to announce that we are now a Living Wage Leader!

Our people matter. They work tirelessly to empower thousands of Calgarians to green the way they live, work, and play. And part of being able to do their job well means that they are not worrying about being able to earn enough to take care of their families.

Being a charity, it's not always easy to be able to pay our employees more than the legal requirement (minimum wage). But sustainability is important not just in the work we do, but also in the way we operate. And with careful planning and budgeting, we've finally been able to achieve this goal.

What does being a Living Wage Leader mean to us?

  • We demonstrate our commitment to providing and caring for our people;
  • We operate in a way that is consistent with our values, vision, and mission;
  • We actively support a more vibrant, healthy and sustainable Calgary.

We're proud that we can join the ranks of other Living Wage Leaders in #yyc who are leading by example and making their employees and operational sustainability a priority.

Over 117,000 Calgarians don't earn a living wage. Over 50% of them are 25 years of age or older and over 60% of them are women. We hope our actions can actively inspire others in being a part of the change we want to see in the world (or at least in our little part of it!)
