A New Year, A New Direction
Posted on December 30, 2016
The New Year is just around the corner, and it’s time for something new at Green Calgary, too. As many of you undoubtedly have heard, 2016 was the last year for our previous Executive Director, Areni Kelleppan, who has moved onto other projects after fulfilling her mandate here at Green Calgary. For 2017 and beyond, we have a new Executive Director, and we’d like to take this chance to introduce him to you!
Born in Winnipeg, MB, our new Executive Director, Conor Tapp, has lived in Calgary for more than 25 years. He has served some of Calgary’s smallest and Canada’s largest charities in his 15+ year non-profit career that most recently saw him leading Strategic Philanthropy for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. You can learn more about Conor’s career on LinkedIn.
Conor is the Communications Chair on the board for the Canadian Association of Gift Planners, Southern Alberta Chapter. He speaks regularly at conferences on a number of topics, and has offered his knowledge and experience through teaching from coast to coast.
A married father of three, Conor tries to incorporate environmentally friendly practices into his parenting – water conservation, waste reduction, reuse, and recycling. While his family has the most extensive holiday light display on his block, he uses all energy efficient LED bulbs paired with timers – so that his Christmas-loving wife and children can enjoy the lights while still making mindful and intentional decisions about their display.
An avid cyclist, you can find Conor riding on the pathways and bike lanes most mornings as he makes his way to the office.
Conor’s vision for Green Calgary is a continuation of our existing themes – being intentional, being decisive, and being available to all Calgarians. “Green Calgary is here for all Calgarians, at all points in their environmental journey. We have always, and will continue to support the members of our community who are making their first change toward less environmentally impactful and more sustainable practices, as well as those who have taught us so much over the years by being the pioneers of the green movement in Calgary,” he said.
We welcome Conor to our team and hope you will, too!
