Urban Nature Walks

Exploring the world of pollinators, native plants, and urban wildlife.

Program Summary

This program builds children’s awareness and excitement about the environment. A connection to the outdoors will help foster environmental stewardship at an early age that can continue to grow as they become agents of change in civil society.

The outdoor component will provide opportunities to take students beyond the classroom, helping them connect with their surroundings. This approach enhances the program's impact by incorporating multi-sensory learning experiences.

Our curriculum will show students how to be active participants in the urban ecosystem and keep the environment healthy for the pollinators, plants, and other wildlife that lie beneath the snow.

Outdoor connections...

...allows students to step outside the classroom and connect with nature on your doorstep! In this outdoor workshop, we will

  • explore what is around us in our school yards or local outdoor spaces,

  • investigate the flora and fauna using this space,

  • examine biological artefacts such a bird wings and talons,

  • discover which species are living in our local outdoor spaces, and

  • think about our role as environmental stewards.
