Our YYC's Young Citizen Scientists Program will come to your school, help your students understand the importance of healthy biodiversity, and lead them through a Citizen Science project in their own community. They’ll learn, strengthen their STEM skills, and contribute to conservation science at the same time! The act of making observations of living things we see around us every day and submitting them to online databases is what Citizen Science is all about. Scientists and conservationists use this data to inform conservation and research projects. This program is a collaboration between Green Calgary and CPAWS (the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society).
“The young citizen science program was engaging, well organized and tied directly to our curriculum objectives. Being involved in real world science has been motivating and exciting for teachers and students alike!” - Elementary School Teacher
