Idling Initiatives in other cities

Edmonton: By-law has been studied, drafted and is currently being debated by a city council committee.

Hamilton:
Has had a by-law limiting idling to no more than 3 minutes within a one hour period since 2007. Hamilton's idlers must attend a court hearing and can be fined up to $5000.

Ottawa: Has had a by-law limiting idling to no more than 3 minutes within a 60-minute period since 2007.

Toronto:
Introduced an idling by-law in 1996! Are now limiting idling to no more than 3 minutes within a 60-minute period. Toronto's idlers must attend a hearing, and can be fined up to $5000.

Vancouver: Since 2006 has controlled idling to 3 minutes in the space of one hour through by-law. By-law Officers issue $50-100 tickets.
