Waste at Home Workshop

Residents making a difference everyday - waste, water and energy

This presentation examines the problems associated with waste in our municipality. Ideas on waste reduction as well as water and energy savings for residents are explored. An amazing amount of information is shared in a short period of time! Participants in this workshop walk away with valuable tips on both how to help the environments and cost savings.

Developed as a follow up to our Waste at Work presentation, Waste at Home explores ideas around:

  • examining purchasing decisions
  • what to look for in an environmentally friendly product
  • recycling in Calgary- beyond Bluecart
  • composting options
  • indoor and outdoor water saving techniques
  • energy use reduction.

Waste at Work Workshop

"Waste at Work" is a 50 minute presentation primarily aimed at educating employees on steps they can take to reduce, reuse and recycle materials at work. Green Calgary's education team has delivered this presentation at over 250 businesses and organizations resulting in internal changes like full service recycling programs or employee competitions to produce the least amount of waste per individual or department. Most organizations have introduced new initiatives which led to reducing the organization's footprint related to waste, water and energy.

Many organizations start with the Waste at Work presentation and go on to offer their employees more learning sessions such as Getting there Green, Green Cleaning and Green Procurement.
