CONCERN	POSSIBLE CAUSES	SOLUTION
Rotten Odour	excess moisture (not enough oxygen)	turn pile, add dry porous materials
Rotten Odour	compaction	turn pile, or make pile smaller
Ammonia Odour	too many greens(too much nitrogen)	add browns
Low temperature	pile too small	make pile bigger of insulate sides
	insufficient moisture	add water while turning pile or cover top
	poor aeration	turn pile
	lack of greens	mix in green sources such as grass clippings or food scraps
	cold weather	increase pile size or insulate
High temperature	pile too large	reduce pile size
Pest	presence of meat scraps or fatty food scraps	remove meat & fatty foods, cover with a layer of soil or dead leaves, use an animal proof bin, t urn pile to increase temperature
Lots of Ants	pile too dry
Pale green mold	lack of oxygen
