Sustainability Series Presents: The Ins & Outs of Composting
Green Calgary presents Master Composter Bert Einsiedel in a workshop that will cover the basics of indoor and outdoor composting. We will outline what is needed to create good quality compost in Calgary, as well as the do’s and don’ts of composting. You will learn about:
• What can be added and what should be avoided
• The difference between greens and browns
• Adequate moisture
• Turning frequency
• Avoiding smell and pests
• Using compost in the yard and garden
• The various methods of composting including Bokashi, Vermicomposting, Backyard and more!
If you’re new to composting, or discouraged by your results and looking to improve, or are already composting and interested in diverting even more organics, then this workshop is for you! The workshop will have plenty of time for questions and discussion.
Available for purchase at the event: Green Calgary will be selling composters, wingdiggers, kitchen catchers and liners, Bokashi bins and starter, vermicomposting bins, taking orders for Red Wigglers and more.

Green Calgary - Fund Development Coordinator
Founded in 1978, Green Calgary is a leading urban environmental non profit charitable organization supporting Calgarians in living a more sustainable life; helping them take effective environmental action in their homes, work places, schools, and communities.
Based in Calgary and reporting to the Green Calgary Executive Director, you will be responsible for planning, managing and supporting resource development for Green Calgary as well as providing support for business development initiatives directly related to Green Calgary programming.
As an ideal candidate, you will have a demonstrated passion for the environment and for fostering sustainability. You share this passion in the relationships you build – whether it’s with organizations, corporate sponsors, individual donors, government funders or other non profits. You are a great communicator with a love for fund development and a demonstrated knowledge in coordinating major gifts, grants, and corporate sponsorship programs. Ideally, you would also have skill in developing business relationships that could help enhance our fee for service revenues as well. A natural organizer and multi-tasker, you thrive in a fast paced, non profit environment where collaboration, flexibility, and being a self starter are an absolute necessity.
