Home School Days

Green Kids is pleased to announce a new format for Home School Days in Fall 2015. We will be updating our existing programs and offering Waste in Our World: a workshop session held over 3 weeks where students will:

• become aware of environmental issues associated with waste disposal
• build a model landfill and solve challenges
• engage with the local community
• commit to personal action plans
• gain hands on experience reducing, reusing and repurposing
• learn about  vermicomposting, organic waste  and soil science

Each class runs for 2.5 hours and is held at Green Calgary (at #100, 301 14th St. NW). Registration is for the entire workshop (3 classes) which will take place on Tuesday mornings, November 10^th, 17^th,  and 24^th. Space is limited to a maximum of 12 children per class and is offered for the following grade equivalents: 

• Green Smarties - Grades 1-3 (6-8 yrs)
• Green Marines - Grades 4-6 (9-12 yrs)

Family Members (all 4 classes) $60
Nonmembers (all 4 classes)      $85

This workshop has a strict 12 child limit and includes hands-on group work to ensure we provide engaging and experiential learning.  For specific curriculum connections, please contact Raine, our Green Kids Coordinator.

Please note: We encourage parents to accompany students during the program to support continued learning, although this is not required.  Younger siblings cannot be accommodated due to space limitations.

Cancellation policy:

• Cancellations over 14 days notice before the program will receive a 75% refund (to cover admin costs).
• Cancellations with less than 14 days notice before the program will not receive a refund.
• Green Calgary will contact you at least 6 days before the program if it has to be cancelled due to low registration. If a program needs to be cancelled due to low registration, you will receive a full refund.
