WORLD WATER DAY: BOW RIVER, WATERSHEDS, AND INTEGRATED WATERSHED MANAGEMENT
Come celebrate World Water Day with Green Calgary. Guest speakers from The City of Calgary will discuss the role of nature based solutions in addressing our current water management challenges. In this 60 minute talk, you will learn about challenges faced by the Bow River Watershed, and how The City is taking an integrated watershed management approach to ensure we have a healthy, resilient watershed. In particular, the role of healthy riparian areas in supporting a resilient watershed will be discussed, including the ecosystem services provided by this green infrastructure. The role of bioengineering in managing and protecting riparian areas will be highlighted, including showcasing a City/Provincial partnership project that is being implemented on the Bow River in Inglewood in 2018.

About your presenter
Sarah Marshall is a Public Program Coordinator with The City of Calgary’s Watershed Planning Division. Amongst other projects, she is involved in developing and delivering outreach and education programs that support The City’s Riparian Action Program. As a native Calgarian, she has a strong connection to the rivers running through our City and is passionate when speaking about the many ways The City, citizens and communities can work together to protect our watershed.
