Building Bee Homes

When we think of bees, many picture the well known honey or bumblebee, or maybe even a yellow jacket wasp. However, we are surrounded by bees and wasps of different shapes, sizes and colours. In Alberta, there are over 300 species of wild bees!

In this one hour workshop, you will be introduced to some of these native bees, learn about their roles in pollination, threats they face and how you can create bee habitats in your urban garden. You will build and take home a solitary bee house. These bee houses do not require hammers or drills, so young children can participate in the construction.

Join us at Green Calgary on August 31st at 3:00. Registration is $10.00/family.
