Landfills Aren’t The Only Ones That Pass Gas

Filed in: Waste & Recycling

Ashley,

I recently heard a statistic that stated that Calgary’s landfills account for more greenhouse gases than all of the cars on Calgary’s roads. Is this true? Also, what is the contribution of cattle to climate change?

Thanks,
Monica

Dealing with Fluorescent Tubes

Filed in: Energy, Waste & Recycling

Hello Ashley,

Since we are all being encouraged to use fluorescent bulbs at home, now that I have one that has worn out, what is the best way to dispose of it? Am I correct that there is a small amount of mercury (or something toxic) in the coating inside the glass?

Many thanks,

Julia

Which plastic containers can be recycled?

Filed in: Waste & Recycling

I just saw an ad about recycling milk containers and in between those milk containers, I saw laundry detergent bottles, etc… Are those recyclable too and can I put them in the recycling bins with the milk containers?
