All Charged Up

Filed in: Energy, Waste & Recycling

Dear Ashley,

I’ve seen that people can recycle rechargeable batteries around Calgary but I’m wondering why disposable batteries aren’t being accepted. Are they not toxic as well? Is there another program in Calgary that allows for disposable batteries to be recycled?

Best Regards,
Leon

Dealing with Fluorescent Tubes

Filed in: Energy, Waste & Recycling

Hello Ashley,

Since we are all being encouraged to use fluorescent bulbs at home, now that I have one that has worn out, what is the best way to dispose of it? Am I correct that there is a small amount of mercury (or something toxic) in the coating inside the glass?

Many thanks,

Julia
