New Opportunities

Volunteer Orientation: Tuesday, February 13th – for new Green Calgary Volunteers

We’ve made it even easier to get into a volunteer orientation! Starting this year, the schedule for orientations will be more varied (afternoons, evenings, weekends), to help fit your busy life! If you haven’t been to a volunteer orientation and have just signed up as a volunteer, you’ll find this orientation quite helpful. This orientation will tell you who Green Calgary is, what we do, and what kinds of volunteer opportunities we have in the year to come. You can also bring friends or family members to get them into volunteering, too! Ages 14+ welcome. Refreshments provided. For more information, contact lex@greencalgary.org or visit the Eventbrite site.

When: Tuesday, February 13th – 4 to 5:30pm

Where: Green Calgary Office, #100, 301 – 14th Street NW

Sign Up: Register here.

Green Kids Volunteer Orientation: Saturday, February 24th – for new Green Calgary Volunteers

Do you have a passion for volunteering and love working with youth?  Do you have daytime availability (occasional eve/weekends too)? If so, our Green Kids and Generation Green programs would love to recruit you as a volunteer to assist us in schools and large youth events. Join Deb for tea Saturday February 24th to find out how you can be involved with programs and events like:

The Energy Revolution Fair – June 7th.  This is by far our largest event!  This is a One-day Pop-up Learning Extravaganza Downtown at Municipal Plaza (800 Macleod Trail SE), held in conjunction with the Mayor's Environmental Expo! Last year over 1200 students attended

Clean Green - offers students the opportunity to examine typical household cleaning products, consider the ingredients of these cleaners and impacts on the natural environment and human health.

Green Streets - This is a larger school initiative that offers students an opportunity to attend an “Eco Fair” right in their very own gymnasium!

EcoForce Leadership Club - EcoForce is a program for Calgary youth who are looking to become environmental leaders in their communities. This program focuses on supporting youth centered leadership and innovation, helping youth implement initiatives that help their communities move towards a more sustainable future.

Water For Life – Water for Life allows children to explore just how water supports life on our planet through cooperatively building a community with props and watch water at work

Waste in Our World – offers children the chance to work cooperatively to build a model landfill and use it to look at ways to divert waste and make our landfills safer for the environment.

When: Saturday, February 24th – 10am to 12pm

Where: Green Calgary Office, #100, 301 – 14th Street NW
